Electric paper plane launcher isn't helping that child obesity problem

planelauncher copy.jpg

Alright, this is just getting out of hand. Technology is making this generation of kids the laziest ever. This Electric Plane Launcher is being sold by a science mall as an "educational aid," but is it really that hard to glide a paper airplane? Come on kids, breaking a sweat isn't that bad!

Regardless, this kit uses motors and spinning discs to launch the paper airplane. It can launch at 31 mph speeds, which is actually pretty significant and likely faster than any human can throw. It is also consistent, so those pesky paper airplane competitions every teacher instigates will have a common variable. The kit has a very reasonable price of $15.

Well, I can see where this would be useful - basically in an educational environment or "contest" with paper airplanes. Back when I was in Junior High School, we had an in-school contest between all of the Science classes with Paper Airplanes. There were a couple categories, such as Distance, Flight Time, etc. I won the distance round with basically a paper missile that I threw as hard as I could, which really isnt all that fair to everyone else, even though this was allowable within the rules. This product would really level the playing field, so to speak, so you could have a much better contest on paper airplane design, instead of just brute force.

FYI - I'm no baseball player, but I can throw a ball (and paper airplane) much faster than 31 mph...just a thought. :)
