This year's Createc Japan conference is chock full of electronic goodies, but nothing seemed to capture the attention of conference-goers more than the Hosiden prototype Polyhedron Speaker system. Looking like a mix between Darth Vader's Death Star and a Borg Cube, the idea behind the speaker system is to send sound at you from every direction without the need of the widely used surround sound technology to trick your ears. The speaker has 32 tiny surface speakers that offer an incredible omnidirectional audio experience. With any luck Hosiden will bring this to market next year, but for now it's just a prototype twinkle in a geek's eye. — Adario Strange
