Boynq Wake Up alarm clock charges and plays iPods, FM radio

boynqwakeup_white.jpg

If electronics purveyor Boynq didn't have such a silly name, we would have thought the company brought this Wake Up iPod dock, alarm clock and FM radio straight from the latter half of this century. Instead of just doing ridiculous or annoying things like some of the alarm clocks we've shown you, this one is actually useful and unobtrusive. Of course, it tells you the time of day and the FM station to which you're tuned. Beyond that, this futuristic device also has a convenient place to plug, charge and play the latest iPods, even the iPod touch, on the upper right of this forward design. Click through to the next page to see it in its shiny black color.

The Boynq Wake Up also has a small detachable remote that lets you control all its functions from afar. Even though it's compact enough to fit on the nightstand beside you, it cranks out a respectable 20 watts through those diagonally situated speakers you see on the side.

Expected to roll out in Europe in time for the holiday shopping spree, the company didn't announce plans for an American release yet. Nevertheless, this is an unusually attractive iPod accessory that looks to be well worth its $185 price.

UPDATE: Now it's available in the U.S., on Amazon for $129.99.
