Blade tailpipe filter saves gas and helps the environment… probably

Blade_Chrome.jpg

When a product works by sticking it in your car tailpipe, you have to wonder if it's a gag. But the Sabertec Blade is totally serious — supposedly it will help your car burn less gas. Exactly how it does that is well on the vague side, even to the device's creators; Sabertec's website at one point says, "Sabertec can not say with absolute certainly how or why the Blade works." Give them points for honesty, at least. Their best guess: The Blade reduces the amount of heat that escapes the exhaust system, making the vehicle's catalytic converter more efficient and enabling the oxygen sensor to take more accurate readings.

According to Lactec Laboratories in Brazil, vehicles on average get a whopping 20% increase in fuel economy. Not only will the Blade help you get greener, it reduces the amount of emissions of carbon monoxide and other nasty pollutants. It attaches easily and as a bonus, it promises to make your car less noisy. Get one now $150, if you can stomach buying something the creators themselves aren't sure about.

My guess is that's it's restricting the exhaust (the grill on the end of the pipe), which robs your engine of power, thus increasing mpg. If you're not using as much power then your not using as much gas. That's my guess anyways.

Horse $hit. Are people really fools enough to believe this kind of crap? I have to give the criminals credit though -- they have gone to lengths to prop up their silly claims with an elaborate web site, "test results" and the like. They'll probably get rich from the suckers who go for it.

Some laboratory in Brazil tested this, like we've heard of this laboratory. If it's so great, why don't they get a well-known US laboratory or university to test it?

If you read their website they state that they found out by accident that the device says gas. They were trying to just reduce emissions and found that it saves mpg as a by product. This article forgot to add that you have to buy a replacement filter every 5-10,000 miles.
