China's crazy new multibillion-dollar airport

beijing-airport-1_48.jpg

China's pulling out all the stops to impress the international community for the Beijing Olympics next year. Just take a look at their new "multibillion dollar" airport terminal that's currently under construction.

Set to open before the games kick off next year, the gigantic über-airport will have a whopping 245 acres of floor space designed to handle the traffic of 53 million passengers a year. It's super-efficient, using "southeast-orientated skylights, which maximize heat gain from the early morning sun, and an integrated environment-control system that minimizes energy consumption and carbon emissions." Also, it happens to look like a gigantic crazy spaceship, which is pretty fun. The only problem is that you need to travel to China to visit it. Oh well!

whoa, thats a cool looking airport.

and it has a good design, I hate airports that have walkways in every direction, making the building feel like a spider web.....while this airport....just keep walking straight....and you will find your flight.

One thing China hasn't improved (for the big O) is their air quality....Beijing and Shanghai are extremely smoggy.
