Yahoo Mash brings social networking to Yahoo

Yahoomash.jpg

On Friday, Yahoo started sending out invitations to Yahoo Mash, which will be the company's answer to Facebook, MySpace, and Friendster. The company announced the product one year after it failed to acquire Facebook, exemplifying the philosophy "if you can't beat them, copy them blatantly." The site's one innovation seems to be that your friends can edit your profile— but only if you let them. Otherwise, it looks a lot like a generic Facebook/MySpace mash up.

Google's attempt at a social networking site, Orkut, hasn't done particularly well in the United States, but is apparently quite popular in Brazil. Yahoo, we hope that you can find a country as large as Brazil that isn't addicted to Facebook already: we're pretty sure that Yahoo Mash won't best Facebook in this country.
