New setup lets you draw 3D objects in thin air

DrawingonAir.png

Drawing with a pencil and a piece of paper is so last century. In this fantastic new age full of technological wonders, isn't it only natural to expect on of the most basic form of the arts — drawing — to get an upgrade? You bet it is.

Some researchers from Brown University have developed a method of drawing 3D objects in the air in front of you, utilizing virtual reality goggles, a stylus, and a tracking device. You can then use the stylus to trace some object right before your eyes, having it appear as reality on the computer it's hooked up to. I'm not sure how intuitive it'll be the first time you use it, but it has the potential to be a really cool way for 3D designers to get their ideas into a computer.
