Apple pulls a Coke with iPod Classic
ipod_classic_fam.jpg

With the new iPod Touch taking top spot in the iPod roster, the venerable original is starting to look dated. But Apple is definitely not discontinuing the bestselling music player — especially since it's the only one in the lineup that still uses a hard drive. That hard drive is getting an big upgrade in the new version, now called the iPod Classic.

The Classic comes in two sizes: the "regular" 80-GB iPod ($250) and the biggie-size 160-GB model ($350). That's a big hard drive. Like, 40,000 songs big. The 160-gig Classic is rated to last 40 hours of music playback (7 hours video). Otherwise, it's pretty much the same as the previous generation, with upgraded menus and all-metal, slightly thinner form factor. No complaints here.

I am not a big fan of the wider screen. I know why they did it but I just think it makes the ipod look goofy. Mind you I have not seen one in person yet, so I guess I will have to wait and see.

I recently lost mine and I miss it like the desert misses the sea. *sigh* The absolute only way to listen to radio or music and it holds just about everything I ever could want to hear or see for photos.
