Generally speaking, aesthetics aren't the first priority for people designing and building supercomputers. They've got more important things to worry about, like getting the components together, getting everything working properly, and keeping it all cool enough so it doesn't overheat. But that doesn't mean they can't make it look pretty once all that stuff is taken care of, right?
Just take a look at the MareNostrum, located in Barcelona, Spain. It's the ninth biggest supercomputer in the world, but when it comes to looking classy, it's definitely Number 1. It's polished every day by hundreds of grad students, who probably wish they were studying in the States. As for the nitty-gritty stats of the thing, it's got 10,240 processing units, 20 TB of RAM, and 280 TB of disk storage, making it the most powerful computer in Europe. Check a couple more pictures of it after the jump.
