Virgin America puts technology in the air

virginamerica.jpg

The skies just got a little more friendly. That's because Virgin America just took off on its inaugural flight yesterday, sending some lucky people between San Francisco and Los Angeles on the most high-tech airplane around. Virgin America offers all sorts of awesome amenities to their coach passengers, including computers on the headrests of every seat. What can those computers do? Oh, baby.

First, they're all networked together, so you can do things like chat with people in other seats and play poker with people spread all around the plane. There's GPS and Google Maps, so you can see what you're flying over, too. They're also connected to a server loaded up with MP3s and movies, allowing you to keep yourself entertained for the whole trip. There are power outlets and USB ports at every seat for charging up your laptop and iPod, and each seat also has an Ethernet jack to compliment the cabin-wide WiFi that's coming next year. Sure makes normal flying seem lame in comparison, doesn't it?
