If you missed buying a piece of the Concorde supersonic jetliner when it was auctioned off a few months ago and still want to get your hands on a piece of history, here's your chance to pick up a piece of the Titanic. The Titanic DNA watch, made by Swiss jeweler Romain Jerome, is made of steel salvaged from the hull of the sunken ship, which has been sitting on the sea floor off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador for the past 95 years. You can choose different materials for the watch case, from the gold finish pictured at left to the extremely rusted steel on the right.
The watch's face is crafted from pieces of coal that were still loaded in the ship's furnace, and the rest of the watch design mimics the gauges and hatches aboard the Titanic. Romain Jerome is releasing a limited edition of 2,012 of the watches, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. Ironically enough, for the purchase price of as much as $152,435 per watch, you may have been able to buy a major portion of the ship when it was built nearly a century ago.
