Good news for wealthy, impractical Back to the Future fans: the DeLorean is making a comeback. With manufacturing beginning at the end of this year, the DeLorean should be for sale in the first quarter of next year for a projected price of $57,500.
As cool as this is, you've gotta wonder if there's any way buying a new DeLorean could not be disappointing. After all, there's no flux capacitor, no Mr. Fusion, and no ability to fly. It's just a car from a sweet movie that's just as impractical as it was 25 years ago. But hey, you can't help loving some things, can you? We'll see if we suddenly see an influx of DeLoreans on the road come next summer.

I don't care how impractical it is. DeLorean's are SWEET. If I were rich, it'd be mine.
...oh, and if I were rich enough to buy one, I think I would front the cash to have a replica flux capacitor put in.

that's awesome..if pe0ple are wealthy enough to purchase one, why not grab the opp0rtunity? if that'll be mine, i'll surely put some add-ons especially warn performance parts to look it more cool.

If they fix all the electrical glitches they had in the past,(like not being able to get out because of a dead battery) then I think the car will do very well. Alot of manual over-rides would help. Like in the C-6 Corvette.

I assume they would redesign the look all together. It's only resemblance would be like a 56 mustang to the new ones we see in production. The stainless steel frame and body should be the only consistent detail for a paint and rust free future driving experience.
It is never wise to buy the first edition of any new tech device, like the LG Chocolate and the I-Phone. Wait until they work out some of the bugs from client input. One of their problems just selling the darn thing was a lack of headroom. They made people feel claustrophobic. They went under before they had a chance to work out the glitches.

are they going to be able to use the dmc logo? deloreans are pretty junky cars but back to the future makes owning one worth while

I would not be the least bit surprised if one of the after-market auto-add-on companies makes a flux capacitor looking interior light (put as much distance between the product and the movie trade mark) for the new dmc.
I think it would be more fun to go to Autozone and buy the flux cap. that to actually buy the car.

Yes the DMC logo was bought by the company here in Houston. These really are Deloreans they bought the molds, plans, and all parts that the original manufaturer had. They've been in limited production a few yrs.

Ah, the "poor man's Lamborghini" is making a comeback? Delightful! We own - since 1991 - one of the last Deloreans to come off the Irish assembly line, and much prefer driving it to the '65 Stingray that shares the garage. At 6' tall, we never feel claustrophobic in it. A more powerful engine w/ twin turbos would be nice, of course, and apparently the 2008 version is headed this way (twin turbos can be retrofited on the stock PVR engine). The Delorean is a hoot to drive, and a head-turner whether moving or parked. If the Houston reformulation comes to fruition, it will only increase the value of the original production run (which had its quality problems, forshur) cars. Good luck, Houston!

For that price, it better have > 280 HP and be capable of driving > 160 MPH... Basically, it should be better than my current ride.
