We're definitely no stranger to the concept of steampunk around these parts, and this latest steampunk creation is a non-operational lightsaber. This is the work of Jon C. Acosta, who seems to be both a steampunk geek and a Star Wars geek. Every single detail of the 100-hour steampunk lightsaber creation was carefully thought out and executed, including the hand-painted quartz crystal suspended inside the handle, and the custom engraving on the emitter guard. The official name of the saber is Lumen Ex Consilium, which means light from within wisdom. Somewhere, George Lucas is shedding a single tear.
John at Table of Malcontents does bring up an interesting question: What would the Star Wars universe be like all steampunk-ified? The steampunk lightsaber was inspired by Ganath from a the Dark Empire II series, but seriously — an X-Wing and Millennium Falcon all decked out in brass, wood, leather and steel? It just makes me pee a little just thinking about it.

I've heard of another version of Star Wars steampunk world it's called the "Magnificent Seven" (well, you're talking about the 1800s, right?).
Also, there's another version of a steampunk light saber - it's called a sword!
