Is this a car or a motorcycle? The Stallion by Thoroughbred Motorsports is neither; it's a three-wheeled vehicle with a 2.3-liter Ford four-cylinder engine, cranking out 155 ponies. That might not sound like a lot, but this is a small, relatively light two-seater with a power-to-weight ratio similar to the most powerful muscle cars in the world.
It does have motorcycle roots, though. Thoroughbred Motorsports formerly converted motorcycles into three-wheelers, but now this is their first foray into building their own vehicles, using a lot of Ford parts and many components of their own making. The Stallion's seating arrangement reminds you of the company's motorcycle roots, with the driver's seat in front and the passenger seat positioned behind it.
There's where the similarity between cars and motorcycles ends. It has a five-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, and there's even air conditioning and heat for the front and rear passenger. Even with all those options and power, this tricycle's makers claim 45-mpg on the highway and 35-mpg in the city. With production models just becoming available, all that performance ain't cheap—this Stallion commands a $29,995 base price.

Hmm... Will you need to have a motorcycle license?
By Klaarg at 12:40 PM ON 08/16/07
3 wheeled vehicles typically are licensed as a motorcycle, but you should check with your state to see if the operator needs a motorcycle permit as well. I believe in most if not all states, you will find that you do need a motorcycle license. The plus for a 3 wheel driver is you can use the 3 wheeler to take your test and it's a piece of cake on a 3 wheeler. It's also a one time deal, like a drivers license.
3 wheelers are also allowed to use the carpool lane, even with one occupant, unless current laws change.

I like three-wheelers. The one I know the most about is the Spyder from Can-Am. (tryspyder.com if you haven't seen it)
It is cooler than the Stallion, in my opinion - and also priced more affordably. They are doing test rides in Michigan, so I have to wait until either the test rides come to the east coast or when it's released in the fall.

I live in Va and have test driven the Stallion. In my opinion the Stallion is a nice vehicle but it is way to expensive. I was assured that if I ordered one that is would be alot more sturdy looking than the demo models. For the $30,000.00 it should at least have some kind of ring around the front wheel to cover some of that ugly look, and where you step into the vehicle there should be some all weather carpeting or something to step on. I feel the edge where you step over to get into the vehicle need something to protect the edge from scratches and nicks. The trunk space is very limited comparted to a Goldwing Trike. All and all if they would drop the price by about $10,000.00 then maybe I would purchase one..

For thirty grand you might as well buy a convertible car. Honda and Harley still have you beat in the trike market.

I love the look of the bike and wish I had one. I am a disable veteran and have two bad knees so it is hard to shift but reading how this bike is made it have my name allover it. Just the price is more than I can afford. I missed the ride for the breast cancer weekend ride due to no bike, maybe someday if they come down some I maybe able to afford one.

This thing is the coolest thing I ever drove! I have had Wing Trikes for years and with out a doubt this Stallion is twice the ride for the money. It also has a warranty. Most of you dont know it but when you trike a Honda you void the warranty. It's also much cheaper to service and a lot easier to find service any Ford dealership in the US can do warranty and service. By far the best thing ever. In fact I ordered one last week and I want to sell my 06 Goldwing Trike low miles
