Some pictures of a squat iPod hit the Web last week, and a few sites picked them up as a rumor. Nothing new, right? But then Apple went ahead and had their legal team ask Gizmodo to take them down, essentially confirming them as the real deal (the pic above is an original rendering from Gizmodo). Whether the new iPods will look like this or be completely different is unknown, but these certainly have more credibility at this point than some baseless rumor.
As for baseless rumors, well, there are a few as to what these fatty iPods will actually be. One rumor says that they'll come in 8-GB and 16-GB flavors, play video, and no longer be called "nano." I've got to be honest, nothing about these things gets me excited in even a tiny way. Bring me a widescreen, touchscreen iPod or bring be nothing at all, Apple.

Amen on that widescreen touchscreen. After the iphone, anything that doesn't have at least touchscreen will not make it very far in the new age of electronics.....
I think apples next move should be to build all of thier ipod flavors with built in wifi and bluetooth (A2DP of course) for complete wireless connectivty and file sharing. I would totally upgrade from my 60 gig black ipod if they came out with a version with built in wireless.

Oh Look its SciFi Tech page bashing yet another Apple Product! Ya know it doesn't matter what Apple does, the could create a product that cured cancer and SciFi Tech would bash the feck out of it for one reason or another. Hurray for a new iPod.. Hurray for Apple... Boo to the Arse Adam Frucci who wrote the article. Hope you enjoy your viruses and blue screens of death in Winders Jack Arse!

Uhm.. one problem with the picture.
The song "Across the Universe" is not on the Love album by the Beatles. Yeah, we know that at least the screen image is a stupid fake, so the rest of the image may be following suit.

I agree with the author. It does look ugly. I also think the next generation of iPod needs to catch up with the wireless connectivity of the Zune from the Evil Empire. The only thing is that file sharing is unrealistic. iTunes just won't allow it to happen. It would decrease profits.
