Let's face it, cigarettes are a crude nicotine-delivery system. They add dozens of toxic substances to the smoke, when all those smokers wanted was just a dose of their favorite drug. Now there are much safer ways than old-fashioned smoking to ingest nicotine, starting with ideas such as the eCigarette. Add to that list this Next Safety Air Purifying Pulmonary Drug Delivery System, turning nicotine and other drugs into aerosols that can be taken quickly and efficiently to the lining of the lungs.
Next Safety plans to test the system any day now, not only with nicotine, but with asthma drugs and narcotics, too. After that, the company will seek licensing agreements with pharmaceutical makers. We're thinking this system might also be popular with marijuana smokers, many of whom are reluctant to smoke but still want to take that little journey to electric ladyland anyway. A few of those pot smokers are already using vaporizing technology, but this more sophisticated device might be even more safe and efficient.
