Back in college, my roommate once put down our cordless phone right on the stove. It was one of those electric stoves, and it was only on simmer, but it was still hot enough to leave a semi-melted ring pattern in the plastic shell (still worked, thanks be to Panasonic). If only someone had thought of this novel hanging-phone design 12 years ago, maybe Darren and I could have avoided all those embarrassing questions from visitors who needed to make a call.
Check it out — there's a hook built right into the design! In addition to preventing melting incidents, the hanging phone opens up a whole new world of spots to misplace it: doorknobs, drawer handles, showerheads and the like. Designed by Alec Wong and Donn Koh (it took two people to come up with this), the phone also comes with an induction charger, à la Sonicare's toothbrushes, that doubles as a hook. Though the design could use some curves, my own experience tells me the hanging phone would be a hot sell if only a manufacturer would pounce on the concept.
