Fold-out stove concept saves space, cooks soup

alno_liberty_island.jpg

Stoves take up a lot of space, and if you're like me, and you don't cook all too often and live in a relatively small apartment, you probably wonder if you could do without. But what about those times you actually want to try your hand at the culinary arts? No one actually wants to live in an apartment without a stove.

That's why this ALNO Liberty Island concept is so nice. It's a countertop that features a stovetop that folds out when needed, including a splatter guard to keep grease and cooking goo from getting all over your table. When you aren't cooking, it folds away and saves space. It's a mere concept for now, but I could see this catching on in high-end yet small apartments in urban areas.

mmmm, not as cool as I initially thought. When I looked at the image I thought it slide away underneath the counter top, keeping the surface clean and hidden away - which would have been awesome. I do think that is cool though, having it stick out from the rest of the counter - looks nice.
