Brix modular cell phone can expand into a large-screen display

brix_front2.jpg

Take a look at Brix, a modular concept for a cell phone that lets you use one of the screens as a phone/media viewer, or piece together multiple units for an even larger screen. It's a lot like the Nokia Prism, but takes the shiny and mysterious black design concept a step further. If you have enough of these Brix bezel-less modules, you can piece them together to make a large-screen TV. Want to take a cell phone with you? Snap off a module, slip it in your pocket and you're off and running. On the next page, see the variety of configurations that could be possible with such an ambitious design.

It's hard to tell how feasible this design concept by Seokwon Hong is, because it seems each one of these individual modules would be too expensive to own a lot of them. However, if economies of scale bring pricing down for such devices, an idea like this might actually be practical, especially if just one of the modules contains most of the electronic trickery. However, we're wondering whether a large-screen display pieced together from numerous modules would show its seams too much to be useful.
