I know if I were trapped under tons of rubble, or buried under a mountain of snow, I would want rescue workers to find me as quickly as possible. But even with dogs and sonar, the chances of survival are slim. To help better your odds the Russian Tancher Electronics Company has introduced the Tancher Electronics Social Safety Initiative (TESSI) bracelets.
Should you ever become trapped, a simple press of the bracelet will send out a special radio signal that can be picked up by emergency management workers, who will then come to your rescue. Wearing an emergency bracelet on your wrist doesn't sound appealing, so in order to give you reason to wear it 24/7, the bracelet also doubles as a USB flash memory drive. And to prove the Russians really are good fellows, the company is willing to give away the technology for free to any company wishing to manufacture the devices.
