Looking like some kind of high-tech alien house plant, this hub from designer Oro-Ito is one of the few that most of us would be proud to display on our desk, rather than trying to slip it under a pile of unsorted paperwork. Hidden inside the white bulb-like base are four USB and two FireWire ports, while a big bundle of included cables covers just about every likely connection configuration. You even get a USB mini fan and light to help you to keep your cool and see what you’re doing.

While $95 might seem a little steep for a hub, I like to think of it as a $65 desk sculpture, with a built in $30 hub. Apparently others agree, as it currently seems to be on back order. — Michael Trei
