OK, this "going green" business is getting out of hand. We're all for developing eco-friendly engines for cars, but building the chassis out of wood just might be going too far. Good thing that this Wooden Supercar seems to be only a small-scale project from a Japanese furniture company, then, with no plans to mass-produce it. The forests can breathe a little easier, anyway.
Impressively enough, the car of carpentry can reach 55 mph, letting it make decent time on the interstates. That's thanks to the engine, which is about the only thing not wooden in the "Supercar" (really, Japan, you're nearing your superlative limit). All considered, it's kind of a fun project — possibly useful, too, if the car breaks down in the Arctic and you really, really need to get a fire going. That would be a pretty expensive fire, though, since the wooden car costs $32,000. I wonder if that includes termite repellent.
