There's a whole lot more programming coming to satellite-TV customers this fall from both DirecTV and the Dish Network, including a whole slew of new HD content. First, Dish is adding eight HD sports channels and seven national HD channels to their lineup, bringing the company's total HD channel count to 39 — good news to subscribers that just love seeing their athletes sweat in HD.

DirecTV is upping the ante even more, now that it's just launched a new satellite that should give them the capability to add 100 new HD channels to their lineup. 100 HD channels?! Call me crazy, but is there enough HD content out there to fill 100 channels, or will we be seeing 20 channels dedicated to showing Planet Earth over and over again? But hey, more HD is good news, and if you were waiting for an excuse to finally make the jump to HD and are a Dish or DirecTV subscriber, it might be time. — Adam Frucci
