Power strip scolds you with pretty lights

cp_07.jpg

Even though your electronic gadget may be in standby mode, it is still consuming electricity. That can be a lot of energy wasted waiting for you to unplug your fully charged iPhone. The Energy Saving Adapters by Gilles Belley are modular power adapters that can monitor the power consumption of a single device, and connect to one another to form a futuristic power strip. When your electronic device (cell phone, camera, computer, whatever) goes into standby mode, the Energy Saving Adapter lights up informing you of your wasteful habits, gently reminding you to turn the device off. If you don't respond in three minutes, the adapter cuts the power automatically. Sounds like a cool device, but I wonder how much power it consumes when flashing all those pretty lights?

Take the jump for more pictures of this concept device.
