If you're still looking to get on board with HD DVD despite the fact that it's the popular bet to be the loser of the high-def format war, good news! Microsoft has gone ahead and dropped the price of the Xbox 360 HD DVD Drive.

You can now pick up the external player for $179, and you'll get five free HD DVDs along with it. You'll get to choose which movies you want, although your choices can only come from a pool of 15 "hits," so you'd better hope you like the choices they give you. It seems silly to me to jump in on the HD DVD side at this point, but hey, don't let me stop you. — Adam Frucci
