Logitech MX Air Mouse, master of both desktop and home theater
logitech_air.jpg

Behold the Logitech MX Air Mouse, a $149 rechargeable cordless pointing device with a gyroscope inside, letting you operate it either on a flat surface or in 3D space. If you want to use it on a desktop like any other mouse, its laser sensor will feel familiar to you. Its versatility becomes apparent when you take it into the home theater, where free gestures through the air move the cursor around the screen, and play/pause controls and a volume button take care of media playback functions.

Although reviewers say operating the MX Air takes a bit of practice, they like its precise operation and tendency to let the cursor move in whatever direction the user's hand is moving, regardless of the mouse's orientation. There's also a convenient charging stand, and its cordless radio frequency (RF) operation works over distances long enough for a variety of situations. Besides those niceties, just look at it! Is it a magic scepter someone accidentally dropped into a time machine from two centuries in the future? Beam one of those directly to these coordinates, Scotty.
