LG and YouTube join forces for a new phone

lgyoutube.jpgLG and YouTube have apparently joined forces to create a phone that can stream videos from the popular site as well as shoot and post videos directly to it. The phone will be for Europe only, at least initially, and it'll be the first phone that's had YouTube involved with the development process from the beginning.

It's a neat gimmick, but unfortunately it's nothing new. Both the iPhone and the Helio Ocean can stream YouTube videos, and the Ocean will soon be able to post videos to the site as well. YouTube isn't anything more than a neat gimmick, a distraction to what should be the main features of a phone, so it seems strange for this partnership to be spun as a 50/50 deal. In any case, I guess it's cool to have more devices out there that are skilled in the mobile video realm, eh?
