It looks like technology is finally catching up to comic books. Well, not all of them: Spidey's web isn't coming anytime soon, nor will you be able to fly like Superman. The protective suit, however is here and ready for your inspection.
A company called d3o has developed a fancy new polymer that's hard enough to withstand hits with a baseball bat, yet flexible enough to be worn over your joints. It should come in handy in everything from military armor to sporting equipment, keeping people safe while they run into or are run into by hard objects. Bring on the even more extreme sports!

Cool. Now can you line the bags I check on the airlines with this stuff?

Yeah but is it bulletproof? if speed causes the particles to bond together to make a hard surface, will it repel a bullet, or does it only apply to objects moving at a slower speed?

Wish I'd had this before I broke my motorcycle's fall. So what kind of needle would they use to make a jacket out of this stuff? Or would you simply slide it into strategic pockets as is now done for soft armor? How would you cut it? Torch? The article doesn't say, but I can't wait to see the new line of armored motorcycle gear. I don't intend to ever experience another broken bone again if I can help it. Hey, come to think of it, this might be good for old folks (the "I've fallen and can't get up" crowd). It could take the impact instead of Grandma's hip...

seems to me like this will be a one peace thing that is molded like a milk bottle or such from the video i saw above so my guess is that there will be no need for any cutting or other things to make it just pour and go
