If you haven't bought an iPhone but are still a fan of the design, don't worry. Chances are good that in the not-too-distant future you'll be able to buy an iPod in that slick form factor without needing to sign your life away to AT&T for two years. That's because analysts are predicting a new sixth generation of iPods that will be announced by January of 2008.
There's talk of the new iPods being flash-based, just like the iPhone, but I think that's unlikely. Due to the facts that large flash hard drives are still insanely expensive and that Apple will want to differentiate between the iPhones and iPods. My guess: 100GB and 120GB touchscreen iPods, which would put the nails in the coffin of any thoughts I had about buying an iPhone. C'mon Apple, let's make it happen.
