Alarm system saves kids from their brain dead parents

babyminder.jpgEvery summer we hear horrible stories about some poor kid dying inside a locked car and wonder how any parent could be quite so tragically thick headed. While it seems logical to brand them all as unfit to care for a goldfish, never mind a baby, in many cases it turns out they were loving people who just got distracted and suffered from temporary brain freeze.

The Child Minder system from Baby Alert can prevent a tragedy by sounding an alarm if its key fob is moved more than ten feet from the car while a child is still strapped into their car seat. That's wonderful, except it assumes that the caregiver is responsible enough to, (a) put the kid in a car seat, and (b) to buy a Child Minder in the first place. Still, it's a great product for responsible parents who are prone to temporary amnesia, and is certainly worth the $64.95 asking price.
