Forget about all those whacked-out computers covered in diamonds, flames, and car manufacturer logos that tell the world how much money you have to spend. Instead, impress the design-school girl sitting next to you by whipping out a wooden computer.
Asus unveiled a prototype design at Computex 2007 that features a laptop covered in a beautiful wood veneer. There are no specifications as to what kind of processing power you'll get from this lappie, but according to the company, computers shouldn't be all about power, but rather how they look and feel. I guess that was enough to convince the show to give the prototype the Best Product Design award. Asus has no plans to market the wooden laptop now, but if and when they do, I hope the package includes a can of polish and a termite-inspection certificate.

I heard that either first macs were wooden or they just had wooden mouses. Can anyone confirm?

Macs were never wooden, however, the first Apple computer (simply called the "Apple", later known as the Apple I after the Apple II was released), was sold as an electronics kit with no case, consequently people built their own cases, often out of wood.
