Wireless charging coming this summer

wildcharge.jpg

Wireless charging, a way of juicing up your gadgets and devices that involves no plugs or cords, is one of those things that people breathlessly talk about when discussing the future of technology. It's seen as a far-off, pie-in-the-sky idea. Well, guess what? It's coming a lot sooner than you think.

WildCharge, one of the many companies working on such technology, is releasing their first product in a mere month. A small pad, it'll allow you to simply place items like you phone and music player on it and get charged without needing to deal with adapters or cables. The only hangup now is waiting for device makers to start building wireless charging into their products. Look for new phones and other devices to start coming with it in the next few months, and then you can say goodbye to cable clutter for good.

This will be a quick easy way to charge. But it will take up more space in the home than a cord to plug in and unplug then put away.
What I am really hopeing for is chargeing over the internet or over some sort of wireless signal. But that is probably a far-off, pie-in-the-sky idea yet.
My cell phone stays in my belt holder, but in my house it would be charged automatically while in the general range of the device that charges it. This device could be put on an upper shelf out of the way. Out of site out of mind, so to speak. Your device needs to be layed out and kept there for chargeing. Which is still simpler, but still takeing up space.
A thought to better. Make it with that no slide surface like the pad for the dash of the car and rig it for chargeing and car worthy. This would work for those with multiple devices. No need to change out the car charger for the unit to be charged.

"goodbye to cable clutter for good."

How? I still see a cable connected to the wireless charging mat! What's the point if it has to be on the mat. Hooking it to a charger is not much different.
