The UK has unveiled their model zero-emission home, a 2-bedroom abode that releases nothing harmful into the atmosphere. It does this by having enough insulation to keep in 60% more heat than the average home as well as by featuring solar panels, a biomass boiler and water efficiency devices such as rainwater harvesting.
The house was designed to meet new energy-efficiency requirements set to take effect across the pond in 2016. Since a quarter of emissions in the UK come from houses, if many people switched to living in eco-friendly dwellings such as this there would be a huge impact. And, since it saves so much energy, it'll be super-cheap to live in. Everybody wins!
