An umbrella might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of connected devices, but I guess that's why you aren't a futurist or product developer, eh? This Internet Umbrella projects images from the web up onto the underside of the umbrella via a projector stuck into the shaft. It connects to the web via a laptop and WiFi, which doesn't seem all that convenient for walking around in the rain, but who knows.
So what are the benefits to having an umbrella connected to the web? Well, it's got GPS, so you can see where you are, a built-in camera, a motion sensor, and a digital compass. It all sounds pretty sweet, and if they could design one that doesn't turn inside-out when it gets windy maybe I'd consider spending more than $5 on an umbrella for once.
