Carpet Alarm Clock seemed like a good idea at the time

carpet_alarm_1.jpg

If you're like me, and you're desperate for anything that'll help you break your snooze-pressing habit in the morning, the Carpet Alarm Clock will pique your interest. Conceived by Sofie Collin & Gustav Lanberg at Lund University in Sweden, the small bedside mat will blare at you when it's time to wakey-wakey, forcing you to get up and step on it in order to shut it off. Seems like a decent idea, though it would probably work best if you put it a good distance from the bed.

Smack in the middle of the Carpet Alarm Clock is the LCD with the time, which actually isn't the greatest place for a clock, come to think of it, so you should probably plan to get another clock for your nightstand if you want to know the time at other times besides right when you wake up. And do you plug this thing in, or is it battery powered? Either way, you're going to have issues. While we're at it, how do you set the alarm on this thing, anyway — do a dance? Maybe it's just as well the Carpet Alarm Clock is a concept product right now, and should probably stay that way. But there's another pic after the jump in case you're a fan.
