Blockbuster just finished a test of both Blu-ray and HD DVD discs in their stores, trying to decide on which format to choose in the asinine horserace that is the current high-def format war. They put both formats in 250 stores and watched carefully to see which customers preferred. The results? Blu-ray was rented a whopping 70% of the time, leading Blockbuster to choose to stock only Blu-ray movies in the future, although they'll leave HD DVDs in those initial 250 stores and offer both formats online.
Does this mean the end of the format war? Not at all, but it's another in series of signs that Blu-ray is inching ahead in the battle. If you're really fed up with waiting and just want to get a HD player, the safer bet would be Blu-ray. But with more dual-format players on the horizon, the smartest move is still to wait and get one of those, leaving nothing to chance.

Very interesting, I thought it was all done. Once the adult movie industry weighed in last January on the side of HD-DVD it appeared that Sony had screwed up once more.
HD DVD vs. Blu-ray: it's all over.
Well Blockbuster isn't Netflix, but it is something significant. I wonder if Netflix will choose to go the other way simply for competition's sake.

Adam's opinions are so far off the mark that it's laughable as to why he's writing reviews. Please ... Sony's PS3 is failing in sales while Microsoft's X-Box 360 and Nintendo's Wii are far outselling the PS3 and even their own PS2.
Seems as if Adam is being paid by Sony to push their Blu Ray format by telling everyone to ditch HD-DVD and go for Blu Ray?
It would be safe to say that since HD-DVD's have become even more affordable than Blu Ray and with more studios going in support for both formats Sony may win the war but I see them taking a lot of attrition from entertainment fans for the new format ...
