Webcams are great for taking low-quality, quick pictures of yourself while you sit at your computer. But as digital imaging and videoconferencing get to be more and more prevalent in the mainstream, people want a webcam that can take a decent-quality picture, not just a grainy approximation of what you look like at your desk.
The new Quickcam Pro 9000 is one of the first webcams to feature an actually decent lens. It's got a Carl Zeiss lens, the same sort that are used in Sony digital cameras. The 2-megapixel resolution won't replace your DSLR anytime soon, but you aren't going to be taking pictures of the Grand Canyon with a webcam anyways. It's about time webcams started getting respectable, don't you think?
