Simpsons Xbox can't save The Simpsons

xbox_simpson_1.jpg

So, as you're probably aware, there's a Simpsons movie coming this summer. This is a tough one for me. As someone who grew up on The Simpsons and has at least half his brain full of Simpsons quotes and trivia, there's a soft spot in my heart for the show. However, the show's been around for nearly 20 years, and it really hasn't been worth watching for at least 7 or 8. So while I think those first 9 seasons or so are some of the best television ever made, I'm skeptical that they'll be able to do anything but deliver the current garbage they're spewing out to the big screen.

Much less contentious is this Simpsons Xbox. It's an Xbox 360, which is tough to not like, and it's painted yellow with Simpsons branding. That's pretty neat. Unfortunately, you can't buy one, as there are only 100 or so being made and they'll be given out in promotions and contests that are going to be happening to promote the movie. Oh well, at least you've still got the DVDs.

I agree about the first 9+years of the Simpsons being some of the best TV ever made. However, I never stopped watching. While I am disappointed in some of the episodes that air these days, some of them are classics, capable of eliciting that common Simpsons reaction, the belly laugh. After 20 years of shows, you expect creativity to be stretched but I am happy to say the magic still exists, at times.

D'ohnt give up on the show.

Greg
