GoPass Technology has suddenly become the worst enemy of car-borrowing teenagers across the world. First they were being tracked by their jackets, then their shoes and now even in the car — with audio! The AVL-900 tracker has two very important functions that will reap disaster for kids and significant others. It can track where a vehicle goes with standard GPS technologies, but it also includes a microphone that picks up all conversations and whatnot inside of the car.
The owner of the AVL-900 can either text-message tracker or call it (allowing it to ring five times), and the unit will immediately call the person back and begin transmitting whatever conversations are going on in the vehicle. Unless the drivers of the car are deaf, then there is plenty of trouble to be had.
For the actual car tracking, it sends text messages or uses GPRS, a mobile data service. The tracker sends messages containing the geographic coordinates, speed or other information. However, the system seems to be powered by an adapter plugged into the cigarette lighter, which your target could catch on to pretty quickly. I'm a fan of the new age of technology, but I am thankful that none of it existed when I was a child or I think I'd still be grounded.
