Automatic Pet Feeder also lets you talk to Fido

petfeeder.gifThis automatic pet feeder has a voice recorder so your pooch or kitty can hear your soothing voice while scarfing down food that we hope isn't poisonous. Under the lid are three separate compartments for food. The bowl itself can be programmed to rotate and unveil a new compartment at, 8-, 12- or 24-hour intervals. The fun doesn't end there. This pet food dish also includes a speaker where a voice can be recorded and played back at feeding time. You don't necessarily have to record your voice, either. I know my pets get more excited at the sound of the food being poured into a dish (even if it were just a recording), and they couldn't give a hoot about me.

The feeder dismantles for easy cleaning and runs on four C batteries. It's available now in yellow and has a price of approximately $32. With devices like this, the Sofaguard, the petwatch timer and the RoamEO GPS pet tracker, owning and maintaining a pet has never been so easy, but if it's still too much you can always just get a robot dog.

This feeder was a good idea, but one of our two cats figured out how to get into in in about three days. And of course, once they figure it out there's no going back.

I came across this new automatic pet feeder at a local auction for a cat rescue group in Seattle.

It's very high-end. It has a retail price of $699 and actually went for $100 over that at the auction! It seems very well built and easy to clean. May have to save my sheckles.
