This is the XR-3 hybrid, a crazy looking three-wheeled vehicle due to debut in June. Technically a motorcycle by regulation standards, it's loaded up with a diesel engine as well as lithium-ion batteries, providing a whopping 125 to 225 miles per gallon.
There's no word on how much this thing will cost, but like all these small, light hybrid vehicles that get insane mpg's, it doesn't look all too practical. I mean, it'd be great for quick trips, but I don't see a trunk anywhere and good luck loading your family into it. These fun design projects are great, but until these things take the shape of a vehicle that families would actually want to use on a daily basis they aren't going to get all that far off the drawing board.
