VIOlight toothbrush sanitizer lets you share with a roommate

violight_sanitizer.jpgThe VIOlight toothbrush sanitizer popped up on the Internet some time ago, but the crew at Popgadget has finally gotten a chance to try it out. The $50 gadget is supposed to sanitize up to four toothbrushes at a time by shining ultraviolet light through the bristles for 10 minutes.

The verdict? It works, and it's easy to use. Our only question is how can you tell it's worked? Well, VIOlight's FAQ page poses precisely that question. According the manufacturer, the sanitizer "has been tested extensively by independent laboratories." Well, we're glad that's settled. But does this mean that every household only needs one toothbrush? And if so, why does it have slots for four? In any case, if the VIOlight is a big hit in your household, replacement light bulbs are available for $12.
