Transfurniture: Stool with a chair inside

transfurniture_1.jpg

It's a stool; it's a chair. This piece of designer Buro Vormkrijgers' Transfurniture is both, morphing from one to the other with a few bends and flips. Honestly, neither "mode" looks all that comfortable, though the aluminum and stainless-steel construction certainly injects some durability.

Vormkrijgers' site says the transformation is "completely mechanical," which seems to imply that it's automatic — kind of cool. The accompanying video file would appear to confirm this, though it's a rendering, so who really knows? I'm going with yeah, just so I can make a gratuitous Transformers reference. Of course, automatic transformation would mean it would need some independent supply of energon cubes.

Check out some pics of the morphing process after the jump.
