Sony has decided to bite the bullet and stop producing the "cheaper" 20 GB Playstation 3. At a whopping $500, the lighter model was vastly underselling the $600 model, one that came with a 60 GB hard drive, built-in WiFi, and a card reader. I guess that once people resigned themselves to spending that much on a video game console the extra $100 didn't seem like that big a deal.
So now there is but one version of the PS3 out there, and soon to be three versions of the Xbox 360 (the Elite is on its way, after all). One has to wonder when Sony will lower the price of the PS3, as that $600 price tag is clearly what is keeping them gathering dust on store shelves. Removing the cheaper version of the console isn't going to boost your sales, Sony.
