moodSeer audio server: multi-room self-indulgence for the Me Generation

moodsystem.jpg

Load all your digital music onto the 1.5-TB hard drive of moodSeer's moodCenter main unit (pictured above left), and it automatically categorizes each tune by mood. Similar to the KlipschCasting system we recently introduced to you, it connects via Wi-Fi or Ethernet with its moodSpot (pictured above center) companion units you've placed in other rooms, letting you listen to different songs in each room. Each one of the moodSpot units plays back your selections through either powered speakers or a stereo system.

The moodBeamer handheld controller lets you select one of 12 moods — such as "relax," "be together," "be inspired" and "romance" — along with the room where you'd like to hear the music. You can hook up six moodSpots ($1500 each) communicating via Wi-Fi, or up to 36 of them if they're connected via Ethernet.

You'll pay dearly for all this wizardry: $4,100 for the moodCenter base station, which includes the moodBeamer remote control. If you want to play 36 simultaneous stereo systems at the same time, you'd better have a fairly soundproof mansion, too, or else this whole thing will quickly turn into a cacophonous din. That might put you in a very bad mood indeed.
