Ikea and its cheap, sort-of-stylish furniture are already taking over living rooms and bedrooms everywhere, but could they take over actual homes as well? I mean, heck, their showrooms already make you want to design your interiors around their furniture, why not take it one step further?
That's the idea behind BoKlok, prefab homes that Ikea already makes to great popularity in their home country of Sweden. They provide families with cheap, efficient housing that's made elsewhere for far less money than traditional building. About 3,500 of the homes have already been purchased and built in Scandinavia, with the BoKloks on their way to the U.K. next. Would these things catch on in the U.S.? You never know, but it wouldn't be too surprising.
