Finns claim to have machine for making human spare parts

sparepartsmachine.jpg

Some researchers in Finland have made a machine that can manufacture "human spare parts." Yikes. Apparently what that means is, in their words:

The methodology enables fabrication of nano and micrometer scale structures that can be used as parts of tissue engineering scaffolds.
So they aren't exactly whipping up spare arms and legs in a machine or anything, but are rather making synthetic human tissue. OK. I'm no doctor, but that still seems pretty impressive to me. But hey, I'll be even more impressed when they get around to making that arm-and-leg machine, as that would be totally bananas.
