Face scanning security exists somewhere, but not everywhere

bioscrypt3dfacescanner.jpgFace scanning as a security measure has always been a neat, futuristic idea, but the logistics of it don't make a whole lot of sense. I mean, sure, it's cool that you can unlock your front door with just your ugly mug, but what's so hard about a key, a password, or even a fingerprint scanner? Sticking your face up to a device seems kind of awkward, at least to me.

But hey, what do I know? This Bioscrypt 3D Face Reader apparently can ascertain that you are who you say you are in under a second, which isn't too long. But you've got to assume that if this thing was more secure than other methods that are currently out there, we'd already have it hooked up to ATM machines and at the security turnstiles in office buildings, but here we are still using boring old PINs and security cards. Oh well, maybe next year.
