Converter puts a normal outlet in your car

carconverter.jpg

Cars are becoming more like little mobile living rooms, what with computers, TVs, and video games coming built into more and more of them. The one thing a living room has that your car doesn't, however, is a surplus of outlets so you can adequately power all of your many devices.

This Headrest Power Inverter turns your 12V cigarette lighter into a much more useful 110 AC adapter. Now you can finally plug in that microwave, Aerobed, and foot massager so you can really relax on those long road trips.

You've got to wonder how long auto manufacturers will continue to put "cigarette lighters" into cars when 90% of the time they're just used as power outlets. Just give us normal outlets and let smokers remember to bring matches, will you?

There aren't too many cars with cigarette lighters anymore (or ashtrays). The plug is still there with a little plastic/rubber cover sometimes featuring some type of symbol for power. Luxury SUVs come equipped with one or more outlets, but they're usually in the front. Not too convenient for passengers riding in the back. Of course why should the majority of SUV owners care? Most of them still believe them to be a status symbol and rarely have anyone else in their vehicle anyway (the extra weight might throw off their already piddly gas mileage).
