200 mph at 200 mpg? That's the Velozzi hybrid sports car

velozzi_twoshot.jpg

Electric vehicle technology has made great strides in the past year, as evidenced by that wicked-fast and sexy Tesla Roadster and now the Velozzi you see here. While the Tesla is a real vehicle that'll be shipping this fall, the Velozzi is a hybrid sports car concept whose creator makes bold claims, such as a 0-to-60 time of 3 seconds and a 200-mph top speed.

Beyond those incredible numbers, it gets better. The Velozzi can run on just about any type of fuel, such as gasoline, ethanol, methanol, diesel, or biodiesel. The fuel powers a micro-turbine which charges the car's highly efficient lithium-ion battery pack. It's an electric car that doesn't need to be plugged in, and will be able to travel 200 mpg on the fuel it takes to charge its batteries. Wow.

The best news? Team Velozzi will freely offer the use of its innovative ideas to all takers. Could be some world-changing tech.

Wow, awsome advancements! Question is, when, or if ever, will this technology be available for general consumer use?

ie. many other concept cars and ideas.

I don't think it will ever see the light of day. The government will swoop in and kill it before the first parts will ever be made. Any new advancement that reduces the use of oil products will be killed on sight. Maybe if it were created somewhere else in the world that has more freedoms, namely the advancement of technology and reduction of the dependency of fossil fuels, than the U.S. then maybe it can be possible.
